Air Flow Sensor is an essential auto spare part used to find the mass flow rate of air getting into a fuel injected internal combustion engine. It is crucial to have information for the engine control unit to balance and deliver the accurate fuel mass to the engine. It is so because the air varies its density as it expands and shrinks with temperature and pressure.
The air density differs with the temperature, altitude, and force induction use. It clearly means that mass air flow sensors are much better in comparison with volumetric flow sensor to help find out the quantity of intake air in each cylinder. Basically, there are 2 common kinds of mass airflow sensors which are named as vane meter sensor, and hot wire sensor. Some of the other air flow sensors are oxygen sensor, cold wire sensor, Karman vortex sensor, and the membrane sensor.
