Hood is a US automotive term refers to the front metallic cover which is normally attached to the movable hinged joint for easily opening and closing the hood. It is also commonly known as Bonnet which covers the engine compartment of a car and designed for a purpose of preventing a vehicle from any sort of accidental damage and theft. It is built with solid robust steel with also other choices like aluminum, fiberglass, and carbon fiber. The vehicle hoods are positioned at the front area of cars but rarely in some old cars they are also attached to the rear engine side and protect a car from sudden backside hit collision. There is an inside latch handle located by the steering side which is pulled up by the driver to open the front side engine hood.
