Air Control Module is a kind of an electronic central control unit of all different kinds of sensors attached with a vehicle such as accelerometer, impact sensors, side door pressure sensors, wheel speed sensors, brake pressure sensors, and seat occupancy sensors. All these sensors are determined by the airbag control unit in terms of their angle and force of impact, intensity of crash, and many other elements. It also uses some essential occupant restraint devices like pre-tension seatbelts, frontal, seat-mounted, and side curtain airbags.
This control module unit utilizes all complex algorithms to make decisions depends on severity status of crash with a difference in velocity and acceleration of vehicle. It accumulates data from crash sensors and decides deploy airbags in fraction of seconds by evaluating and closely detecting a crash event prior to using a suitable restraint system depending on the severity of collision impact in its all surrounding areas.
